An upright and cheery Prince, who grew up in a loving environment. When the Kingdom was attacked and destroyed, he was cursed by a sorcerer. From that day onwards, he has to remain in the form of a swan during the day, and can only take on a human form at night. He met Princess Signy in the woods many years ago, and has adored her from first sight. He keeps her company in the form of a swan.

Aldous is a Swan Lake Companion.

Appearance[]

Aldous is a man with a strong body and kind brown eyes, and short brown hair. His dark brown cape is held at his shoulders by white swan feathers and golden buttons with emeralds. He wears a yellowish suit composed of a coat with golden triangle buttons, a yellow herald with a white swan on his upper arms, a beige shirt underneath, white gloves, yellowish knee-length shorts and brown boots. He has a yellow scarf around his waist holding his sword's scabbard and another brown belt under his coat. His sword has a golden pummel with a brown leathery handle, and emeralds embedded in the guard.

Little Lost Princess

If this letter reaches you, you've probably returned safely to the castle. That would set my mind at ease. The forest is dangerous at night, and you didn't have anything to protect yourself with. You must keep track of the time, and return before nightfall.

Perhaps you're frowning right now, and wondering who this strange letter writer is. But that's not important. Just think of me as a person with good intentions, who just happened to see you wandering about in the forest. I didn't show myself to you, because I saw that the swans were already guiding you. The swans at the lake are my friends too, and they are gentle and understanding. If you ever run into trouble again in the forest, you can ask them for help. Of course, they're also good company, and I believe that you'll like them too.

Princess Signy, I am... Aldous. I'm sorry that you witnessed me change from my swan form to my human form in that situation. You must have been scared.

I didn't want to get you involved in all of this, because you're so cute and innocent, and I didn't want to anything magical or cursed to affect your life. And you really shouldn't have made such a heavy decision for me. Regardless, I'm overjoyed at your words. I'm really foolish, am I not?

Please don't worry about me. The wounds I sustained have already healed. Thank you for lending me your hair ribbon. I have washed it with clear water from the lake, and will keep it safe. When I go to the castle to attend your coming-of-age ceremony, I shall bring it with me, and return it to you.

Dear Signy

Do you know that on the first moonlit night I turned back into human form, I made a writing quill out of a swan feather, and I've been using it to keep a daily journal. Even now, as I write this letter to you, I am using the quill. I used to think that my journal was the only use I had for it.

My dear Signy, everything that I have, is because of you. For a very long time, I could only swim atop the clear waters of the lake in the day, and gaze up at the starry sky at night. I did not have the courage to step out of the forest, and did not have the willpower to change my fate. But when you appeared, you changed everything.

How can I even describe how it feels to gaze at the sunrise as a human being? The warm rays reflect off the surface of the lake, and the most eye-catching of all is your reflection...I have decided that I shall protect you for the rest of my life.

Before the Story

Aldous was originally a prince from an unknown kingdom who was well-loved. However, he and his servants were cursed by the Owl Sorcerer and turned into swans, before being taken away from his home and left in a forest far away. Only after some years later did he first meet Signy, the princess of the nearby Kingdom, as a swan, and they have been friends since.
