When I just woke up, I found the world a strange place. Metal boxes moving up ande down the streets, making a racket. Outside the buildings and in the houses, there are also many "bright boards" with people trapped in them.
There are too many things here that I don't understand. I roam the streets in a daze every single day. No one sees me. I'm just a spectre. Against this boring and noisy world, I'm afraid I might even want to fall asleep again. But then I met you, Choi Si-woo.
"The one who can see me, but is not frightened of me, is my destiny." This is something that's been on my mind ever since I was born. Who knew that such an ordinary story would become the very thing that keeps me awak in this world?
I know you must feel perplexed right now as you have no idea who I am. You might even think I'm absurd.
I regret the nonsense I said to you when we first met. If I were given a second chance, I'd definitely cherish the opportunity to meet you and greet you properly.

This letter is one I've hesitated to send out. I hope you can forgive me for my foolishness. I used to think I understood all of your emotions, but I didn't even realize the frustration hidden under your smile.
Humans are too complicated. They can be as compassionate as you are, but they can also be like those who hurt you, some even more despicable than evil spirits. I want to tear them apart whenever I think of what they've done. Ironically, I'm so weak now that I might break if I use even a bit of my powers.
I wish to bring you to the forest, away from the troubles I don't understand but your rejection was firm. What do I do, Si-woo? Even if my body's battered, I still can't help but want to be close to you, and to hear you call my name again. Yet, your eyes are distant. If you no longer care for me, where else can I go?

Can you imagine how much of a dilemma I was in whenever we fought in the past? I wanted to tell you who I am so many times, but I couldn't, because the truth would have stolen your smile. I once suffered the pain of shattered bones, but it cannot compare with the piercing pain of your tears.
I know I'm stupid. I cannot understand and express the emotions of humans accurately. The only thing I can do is to keep my promise to you. It's why I rushed to your school celebration. You must have forgotten that on the day before you left, we'd promised to meet the next day.

- When Choi Hyun-woo first gained consciousness, he was rather gullible, believing everything Si-woo told him and even writing everything down to memorize all the details.
- When Si-woo’s culinary practices failed, he helped to eat all the food, so that Si-woo would not be sad.
- During the development of the story, Choi Hyun-woo's identity as the geoguwi was chosen, as according to legends, the geogugwi is devoted to spending its entire life protecting the one it loves despite its terrifying appearance.
