Young master of the East Sea merfolk. He is capable of casting spells but they don't always work accordingly. When he was still a small fry, he unwittingly got engaged. Upon gaining human form, he was kicked out of his home. He isn't allowed to return if he doesn't find his wife-to-be. This actually suits his hopes of sightseeing just fine.
Chu Yunqing is a Tang Dynasty Hunter Companion.

Appearance[]
Chu Yunqing is a fairly tall male with brown eyes and long black hair that is partially tied up in a high ponytail. While he looks mostly human in his mortal appearance, his ears have blue fins attached to them, telling of his merfolk origin. As seen in his awakened Relic, even in his mortal appearance, some parts of his skin are still covered by blue scales.
His outfit is reminiscent of hanfu fashion, consisting of three layers; a white short-sleeved outer robe embroidered with wave patterns, notably at the lower hem, a long-sleeved pink inner robe, and a red long-sleeved undershirt trimmed with black at the collar area. He wears cyan arm guards underneath his clothing, as well as brown boots. His outfit is held together with a matching red sash and a black belt, with a jade pendant decorated with a long red tassel hanging from it. He is also often seen holding a folding fan in his hand.

I have heard the people on land can’t cast spells, so they write letters instead. I thought it would be interesting so I decided to write you a letter. Please excuse my terrible handwriting. I’ll practice to get better!
A few days ago, I went to the lantern fair. It was so lively! Miss Pei is new to Chang’an too. Have you heard of the guessing game? They call it “she-fu” here. It’s a game where an item is hidden under an opaque container, and everyone has to guess what it is. The customers clearly don’t know any spells, but they always manage to guess the item correctly! It’s absolutely fascinating.
The acrobats are new to me too. I see people spewing fire and swallowing swords. If Miss Pei were here, I wonder if you’d subdue them like demons?
The people on land love guessing riddles too. There are also dragon dances to watch. It’s all very exciting.

My Dear Wife
A little bird chirped all night outside my window, and I couldn’t sleep at all. Upset, I decided to pen a letter to you. I felt better immediately! Don’t you find it amazing, my dear wife?
Pink flowers have been growing by the door. I’ve never seen them before, so I don’t know what they’re called. They’re small and delicate, but so fragrant. They remind me of you. When I was in Chang’an, I heard someone recite a line from a poem. It says, “The clouds are her dresses, and the flowers, her visage.” I think this must be what it means.
On the topic of flowers, I saw lots of them when I left the East Sea for Chang’an. They bloom in various colors, and I thought I’d forget them. Now that I think about it, I should have picked some to put in your hair.
I always stayed under the sea before. I didn’t know the mountains and rivers were so beautiful. Let’s travel hand-in-hand across the lands and live a carefree life together!
