Letters[]
First Letter
Miss Playwright
I wonder if you'd be surprised to receive my letter?
It may be a little presumptuous to address you in this manner but I think it's the best way to express my expectations. After that brief meeting at Professor Bhaer's tea party, I haven't been able to forget about you. You're bold, passionate, and stick to your beliefs. If I have to think of the one missing piece to my troupe, it's a playwright like you!
After hearing about you from Mr. Dashwood and reading your past works, I am even more convinced you're the right one for the job. There are always difficulties when you start something new but trust me, the experience will be worth it!
Since I was the one who recruited you, rest assured I'll be with you every step of the way.
Please seriously consider my proposal as making you my playwright was not a decision I made lightly.
I will be directing a play this weekend, and I hope you can come see it. If I can be captivated by the allure of the stage, I believe it will be the same for you!

Second Letter
Miss Playwright
I hope you're not too surprised by this letter I slipped into the script you're editing.
I want to congratulate you on joining the troupe and finding a new goal in life. Things have been hectic lately, so I couldn't find time to write this letter until today. You've been with us for some time now and the plays you've written have been well received by the audience. The others in the troupe appreciate you as well so I'm sure you've made the right choice. I know you're working hard on the script, but can you pay me some attention when I'm around? I'm the director after all!
Fine, what I really want to say is that I'm worried you can't cope with the high-intensity of our work. You should take some time off to relax. I've always heard experiencing new things does wonders for your creativity.
Broadway is showing an opera and while it has its differences from plays, it's still something you should see. If you're free this weekend, it would be an honor to watch it with you.
I admit the reasoning here is a bit far-fetched so I will be blunt. I would like to ask you out. Seeing how I've gone to such lengths, you wouldn't turn me down, right?
Franklin
Third Letter
Dear Jo
Did you try to guess the content of this letter before opening it? I bet you're not going to expect what's in here. I'll give you a hint—the content of this letter is so important that I've rewritten it a dozen times before I got it right.
It all began a few days ago, when I noticed a bouquet of roses at the florist down the street. It wasn't placed at a prominent location but still bloomed tenaciously. Its petals so red you can't take your eyes off of them. I was instantly reminded of your persistence and fearlessness in the face of any adversity. When I caught myself smiling at it, I realized unknowingly, you've become a part of my life. The small things that I see daily would remind me of you in some way. It's such a wonderful feeling. Before I met you, I never experienced something like this in my life.
My friends say that being a ladies' man and having an eye for romance are my greatest talents. I think there's some truth to that. They are the reasons why I am enjoying the current success with my plays. But my dear Jo, can you please tell me why my talents seem to fail me whenever I'm with you? When I speak to you I'm afraid my romantic gestures would come across as frivolous but I'm also afraid someone else may see an opening if I show too much restraint.
What bothers me most is how I can never be certain how you feel. "Is she ignoring me because she's occupied with her work? Or is it because she has no interest in me?"
We'll finally have another chance to meet again at next week's business dinner. I know you're not good at handling such occasions so maybe we can get some air in the ballroom's back garden. Who knows, the garden may offer us a surprising view.
With anxious regards, Franklin
