"People have criticized me for being too cold, like a German machine. Perhaps, this is the only negative effect of philosophy."
"I don't regard myself as their teacher. When I study philosophy, I often gain insight from the way young people think."
Upon Receiving a Preferred Gift*
"Thank you. I've just brewed some tea. Would you like to drink some?"
"I need this to view the stars. Thank you, I'll treasure it."
Upon Receiving a Non-Preferred Gift*

"Thank you for the gift. I might not know how to use it, but I'll treasure it all the same."
After Using All Interactions Attempts
"Time flies. We've been chatting for quite a while, and I shouldn't take up more of your time. May we meet again."

Letters[]

First Letter

Jo

Forgive me if you find this letter overly presumptuous. It was raining heavily when we last met and I hope you are well.

The emotions I felt from reading your work still linger with me. I must say it's a masterpiece. The era of war is one filled with brutality but your novel has managed to convey the rare sense of tranquility that I have been searching for. Part of its charm is that it's confident and bold, without being overbearing. In my selfishness, I hope you will finish it.

I will be hosting a tea party at my place this weekend. If it isn't too much to ask, I would like you to join me. It would be a good opportunity for deeper conversation.

I'll be preparing for the party once I am done with this letter. Do you prefer cream pies, apple pies, or something else?

Nothing would bring me more joy to see you enjoy yourself to the fullest.

Looking forward to your reply.

Friedrich

Second Letter

Jo

It feels like it has been a while since I last wrote you a letter. When it comes to sharing my thoughts with you, I much prefer putting pen to paper. Please don't misunderstand, I enjoy our face-to-face conversations, but there is just something different about writing a letter. It's a form of communication that allows for deeper meaning since the words on a letter are a physical manifestation of our thoughts and feelings. As a writer, surely you must understand that feeling.

The theater is putting on a new play. Will you be free next weekend? The last time we spoke, I noticed you have yet to experience the local sights despite being in New York for a while. The play is a good chance for you to relax and we can visit a nearby street after the play.

It isn't too far from my school and it's lined by tall maple trees. When fall comes, their leaves turn a vivid red that ressemble dancing flames. The street is also filled with life. From newspaper boys hawking papers on the side, to children crying to their mothers for new toys. It may not be the busiest street of New York but it's a microcosm of life here and an ideal place to look for a better understanding of the city.

Looking forward to your reply.

Friedrich

Third Letter

Dear Jo

After some contemplation, I've settled on making my feelings known through a letter. Forgive my stubbornness but I still think words are the best way to move someone.

This time, you may to need to write back. I've always wondered, was I being selfish? I'm aware of the efforts you have put into writing and how Mr. Dashwood isn't someone you should work with, yet I still wished you'd continue writing.

I'm no longer sure if what I kept can be considered your work. They are well-written, but they say even the best works are a projection of the author's personality. The more I understand your work, I begin to identify the same qualities that draw me to you. I can't resist nor escape them...

The time we've spent together keeps running through my mind. I thought about our first meeting when we exchanged a few pleasantries. I guess I didn't leave much of an impression back then, huh? Luckily, it didn't take long for us to meet again. We got to know each other from then on...until today.

It all happened so naturally that I don't know when I developed this complex and indefinable feeling that is more than just admiration for you.

I don't know if you can accept such a feeling but rest assured I'm not forcing you to give me an answer. All I want to know is what's on your mind. As I've mentioned earlier in this letter, you do not have to write back.

I've heard how you've been very busy with work lately so please take care of yourself. I wish you nothing but the best.

Love, Friedrich
