When you told me you wanted to be friends, I couldn’t believe my ears! The esteemed Queen of France wants to be my friend?
But everything that happened after convinced me it was all true. You’re the Queen, but you sincerely wanted to be my friend, and even helped me stay in Versailles. Marie, I don’t dare to imagine... what my life would have been like without you, and what it would be like now.
I’ve been so fortunate to have spent all those days with you, and I shall treasure the memories forever.

I usually have so much to tell you, but today when I try to write you a letter, I find myself not knowing what to say.
You asked me before what my husband and my family mean to me. I avoided answering your question, but today, I think I can finally give you a reply.
I’ve always considered myself a very weak woman. As a child, I relied upon my family, and when I became of age, I started relying on my husband. Sometimes they would demand unreasonable things of me, but I’ve always felt that it's my duty to put up with it all for the sake of family.
Until that day... when my husband refused to understand how hard you’ve tried, and wanted to rebell against the reform. I begged him to change his mind, but I failed to persuade him. My family has declared my best friend an enemy out of purely selfish reasons. And that’s why I decided not to put up with anything anymore.
But I’ve come to my senses too late, and everything has been set in motion.
Sometimes I can’t help wondering if I had woken up earlier, could I have helped you?
But the cold, harsh truth is that I am simply a weak and useless woman, and I can only pray to God, and hope that He can help you accomplish everything you wish to do...

Before the Story
Gabrielle is Marie's best friend and her husband sucks.

- Gabrielle is our number one supporter
- Adelaide accuses her of being a dodder - a parasite leaching off the Queen; Gabby's family and husband had significant money troubles, but Marie helped them reach a higher status
- Gabrielle encourages Marie to buy the necklace because she thinks Marie is the only one pretty enough to wear it <3 this is terrible advice but very sweet; Gabby is not politically savvy
- She will lend you money for the necklace even though it ruins her life ;(
- She defends you against false allegations
- Always willing to gossip about cute boys (FERSEN AT THE BALL LOLS)
- Expresses problems with her husband but not a major conflict yet
Chapter 2

- If you follow the 2-2 route, Gabby tries to convince her husband to do the right thing but after finding out Duke Polignac has been lying about their financial status, she disappears from high society
- Lafayette reveals she's baking Gugelhupf for poor children (awww)
- I haven't played QM in a while I don't really remember what happens in this route
- If you follow the 2-9 route, Gabby struggles with the choice to stay in France
- "Full of Hope" is the only acceptable ending
- You run away with her and Louis to live the life of commoners in Switzerland; she bakes and you use your modern business knowledge to help her succeed
- You raise your children together as a beautiful family and this is the best route in the game don't argue with me
- If you don't go with her, she disappears with her family and you don't see her again ;(
Trivia[]
Below are trivia about the real Gabrielle, her character in the game, as well as her development prior to the book's release.
Historical Trivia[]
- The real Gabrielle did have violet eyes; any surviving portraits had reportedly featured eye colors that ranged from light blues to purples.
- Gabrielle had one daughter and three sons
- Gabrielle died of natural causes in 1793, shortly after the death of the Queen. While her family reported that she passed away from heartbreak instead, historians concluded that she died from cancer.
Game Trivia[]
- Gabrielle's design was initially planned to be a lot more colorful and vibrant in terms of appearance, and her current appearance was meant for another character in the story.
- However, since the vibe of the latter appeared to be a better fit for Gabrielle's character in the story, the team decided to adopt the second design as a result.
