Letters[]

First Letter

Miss Gautier

It's been a while since I've had such a fun time talking to someone.
You're clearly a very well-spoken lady. When you described how you would cut the fabric, I can almost hear the sound of your scissors clipping away.
There's someone who I respect very much, and is also a tailor like you. She once told me that even when your clothes are covered in patches, they should still be clean and presentable. It is a form of respect you show yourself when you're out and about.
If I ever get the chance, I hope I can introduce her to you.
Lastly, thanks to your skilled hands, I was able to meet my business partner in a well-stitched coat.

Mr. Midas

Second Letter

Marguerite

It's a little strange how I've found myself losing focus on the task at hand.
When I'm eating, driving, or just listening to the gramophone, you always seem to pop up in my mind like a stock code.
It's funny how I've gotten a so childish lately.
I asked about your location just so I could pretend I ran into you by coincidence.
I'm also amazed at how much I've been talking lately.
When I'm with you, I have the patience to talk about things I once thought were trivial, and listen for your response.
It's amazing how different things are when you are with someone you actually care for.

Gary Reno

Third Letter

Marguerite

I am not the type of person to reminisce about the past or wonder about the future. My focus is on how to live pragmatically in the present.
But things changed after I met you.
I imagined us living in a house with a yard, a golden retriever and a tabby cat.
In winter, when it's snowing, the fireplace would burn brightly and fill the entire house with the smell of pine wood.
The cat would be sleeping on your workstation as you come up with new designs. The dog would be lying next to my feet as I read the newspaper on the couch.
When it's time for dinner, I would prepare beef stew. Feel free to help me with it if you have the time. Both the cat and the dog would rub against our legs when they're happy to see us.
Wouldn't it be nice if such a future were possible?

Before the Story

Gary was born in a poor family, and had to work from a very young age, eventually learning how to barter in order to make ends meet for his family. He had a sister named Doris and a mother named Irene, with his father having passed away early on in his life. Gary would eventually put his bartering skills to use in the stock market in order to support his family. However, some eighteen years before the story, Doris was murdered and Irene soon developed Alzheimer's disease, and would be stuck in the past for the rest of her life, leaving Gary alone to fend for himself and his mother ever since. He eventually decided to make use of some of the money earned from stock trading to build nursing homes, to ensure that patients like his mother would be properly taken care of at zero cost.

As a result of making a name for himself in the stock trading industry, Gary eventually became known by the nickname of "Mr. Midas". He would also become the financial advisor of Michel Fontaine, chairman of the Fontaine clothing company.
