I also must say that not all Chicagoan's are like the drunkard you saw in your yard! I hope you haven’t got any misconceptions about us. He’s really an embarrassment. Did you know I really love your house? I’m not as knowledgeable as you when it comes to architecture, but I find it really stylish, and it captures attention of the entire community. I used to look at the house and think, what kind of person lives here? So when you told me you’d returned Paris, it all made sense to me. Lastly, it is an honor to meet you, beautiful lady!

How are you settling into your new life? I heard you started work at Holmes’ hotel? I suppose he'll need an architect if he’s looking to add more floors to his hotel! I find it strange that the building is always being renovated. But it means Holmes is still wealthy, so you don’t have to worry about unemplovment. About your request for me to look for Claudia, I’ve been investigating but there’s no news yet. I’m really worried for this lady. Good gracious! Chicago isn’t the most friendly place for a lady by herself. I hope she’s safe and sound.

The following segments detail Joshua Jonas Schultz's story throughout Have You Seen Claudia?. This section is nothing but spoilers. Read at your own risk.
Before the Story
- Joshua wanted to become the Chief of police as a child and earns the nickname "Little Chief" after he goes around telling everyone.
- Joshua met and became enamored with Claudia.
- Courting did not go well and he kidnapped her to keep her for himself.
- He worked to break her spirit by promising to let her go and then breaking that promise repeatedly.
Chapter 1
- 1-1: Joshua steals Edith's bag at the train station and uses it to convince Claudia he killed Edith, finally succeeding in breaking her spirit. He watches Claudia's house and hustles off a drunk that starts harassing Edith.
- 1-2: Joshua offers to help Edith in her search for Claudia. He returns with Edith's suitcase and the news that a friend of his saw Claudia rushing to the train station and offered her his carriage. He continues charming Edith.
- 1-3/1-4: Joshua leaves a forged letter and Claudia's lipstick with HH Holmes to give to Edith. The letter details Claudia's rush home to recuperate.
- 1-4: Joshua intervenes at the police station to save Edith from Detective Servello's unwanted advances in exchange for a free month of pork legs. He accepts Edith's offer of a drink/coffee. Layla ignores him if the drink option is taken. He offers to walk Layla and Edith home, only Edith accepts and he takes the opportunity to flirt with her some more.
- 1-5: Joshua runs into Edith on her way to her first day of work and offers to post her letter to Claudia, with a warning that the mail has been slow due to the World's Fair. He doesn't send the letter.
- He takes advantage of HH Holmes' sketchiness to frame him for Claudia's disappearance.
