- The banquet ends and despite some issues, my "special cameo" has been a great success.
- It's just such a shame that I've not managed to find any clues about the gemstone.
- A cargo ship that has sailed to foreign countries returns today. Sinbad is going to personally take stock of the goods at the harbor.
- You: That silver trinket from the previous dynasty was brought back by Sinbad after it ended up in a foreign country.
- You: The ship must have brought back many curious treasures again. There might even be an unexpected discovery.
- You: I should quickly get changed and urge Sinbad to set off early!
- Just as Sinbad and I were about to head out to the harbor, the housekeeper hurriedly passes us a letter.
- Sinbad: It's from His Majesty the King! His health has taken a turn for the better, and he has invited me for a small get-together at the Palace.
- Sinbad: This is great news! I haven't seen my old friend for a long time. I have so many things to tell him!
- Sinbad: Gina, tell the shopkeepers that we won't take inventory today. I'm going to the Royal Palace!
- You: (If the King's health is improving, then why didn't he attend the palace banquet?)
- Something doesn't feel right about this. I want to tell Sinbad, but I'm afraid to reveal that I've been to the Palace.
- After thinking about it for a while, I make my decision...
- Tactfully remind Sinbad
- You: Sinbad, something about this doesn't feel right to me.
- Sinbad: What is it?
- You: When the foreign envoys came, I went to the Palace to see what all the fuss was about.
- You: The guard said that the King was sick in bed and the Prime Minister was hosting all the envoys.
- You: It hasn't been that long and the King's health has already improved? Could this letter be a fake?
- Sinbad: The letter isn't in the King's handwritting, but his special servant delivered it personally.
- Sinbad: Banquets are lively affairs and the King has been confined to his bed for a long time. I'm guessing he still didn't feel up to attending one.
- Sinbad: Don't worry! Who would dare pull a prank in the King's name?
- You: That's true... Maybe I'm overthinking it.
- Don't say anything
- I decide not to say anything else to complicate the issue futher. I don't want to bring up more things that I can't explain.
- You: (No one would dare impersonate the King right? I hope I'm just overthinking things.)
- Sinbad: Hahaha! Bring me my treasured wine from the East! They say it nourishes the body. I want to present it to His Majesty!
- Sinbad goes cheerfully to the King's lunch, but before he leaves, he tells the kitchen to prepare a fantastic dinner as well.
- When I get back to Sinbad's house from the market, it is past dinnertime and Sinbad is still not back yet.
- At first, everyone thought that Sinbad must have stayed at the Palace for dinner, but as the curfew approaches, people start to worry.
- Sinbad does not return during the night.
- The next morning, the servant who accompanied Sinbad to the Palace rushes back to us in a panic.
- Servant: Terrible news! The Master has been thrown into prison!
- You: Didn't Sinbad go to the Palace at the King's invitation? What happened?
- Servant: Master entered the Palace... I waited outside the gate, but then night fell and he never came out...
- Servant: When it was just getting dark, I finally received word... The King drank Master's wine and then fell into a coma...
- Servant: Master was immediately throen in jail and sentenced to death!
- You: Sinbad couldn't have given the King poison! He must have been set up!
- You: How is the King now? Is it life-threatening?
- Servant: I don't know...
- Servant: The guard heard that I serve Master Sinbad and was going to arrest me on the spot. I was barely able to escape and make it back here.
- The news of Sinbad's imprisonment hit us like a lightning bolt on a sunny day. The house suddently erupts in a panic.
- You: There's no time to waste. We must think of a way to save Sinbad!
- I immediately think of...
- Light
- You: (This is an emergency! The Magic Lamp is our only hope!)
- Light: You mean... you want me to use magic to free Sinbad from prison?
- You: Yes! Sinbad has been framed. His life is in danger!
- You: If we don't save him, he could be tortured or even executed!
- Light: I know you are eager to save your friend, but I think you need to calm down first and think about it.
- Light: It's easy to get him out of prison, but then what? You think he can just come home and recuperate?
- Light: The person who framed him must have planned it. Sinbad didn't plead guilty so what happens if he escapes? The Palce would certainly send out someone to catch him.
- You: You're right... A "jailbreak" wouldn't solve the problem.
- You: I guess we should figure out why the King was poisoned. Then we will know who framed Sinbad!
- Light: For the record, it's not that I can't do it, but this needs to be resolved. You should go find the Prince first.
- Light: Maybe he could use your help right now too.
- You: You're right... The King was poisoned and Sinbad was framed. Kahir might be facing a crisis.
- You: I need to think of a way to get into the Palace and figure out what's going on. Then I can help Kahir and Sinbad.
- Kahir
- You: (I just need to think of a way into the Palace so I can find Kahir...)
- As soon as I think of this, I suddently feel pangs of guilt.
- I was so focused on rescuing Sinbad that I almost completely forgot that Kahir might be in trouble too.
- You: (His father has just been poisoned, and a family friend has been framed. Kahir probably needs help.)
- You: (I need to find out why the King was poisoned. Then I can figure out who is working behind the scenes!)
- On the way to the Palace, I pay special attention to any notices I see, but I don't see any news about the King's situation.
- You: (Great, it looks like the worst case scenario has been averted for now... but I can't waste time!
- ???: Gina?
- I hear a familiar voice speak to me with hesitation.
- Kahir: Where are you off to in such a rush?
- You: Kahir! I was just going to the Palace to find you. What are you doing here?
- Kahir reminds me to keep my voice down, and then cautiously pulls me into a hidden corner.
- I notice that even though it's only been a few days, he's gotten thinnier.
- Kahir: I'm sure you've heard that Sinbad has been put in prison.
- You: Kahir, you do believe that Sinbad was set up, right?
- Kahir: I absolutely believe Sinbad. Don't worry, he may be in prison, but he's safe for now.
- Kahir: I've already issued an order that he will not be brought to trial until we trace the origin of the poison.
- You: His Majesty the King really got poisoned from drinking Sinbad's wine?
- Kahir: The Palace Pharmacist has confirmed that the wine was indeed poisoned, but Sinbad's offering was brought to the table by servants.
- Kahir: I think someone tanpered with the wine to poison my father. They just took advantage of Sinbad's request to see the King, and used him as a scapegoat.
- You: Sinbad's request?
- You: But Sinbad received an invitation from the King via his special servant. That's why he went to the Palace.
- Kahir: An invitation? That's impossible. Father's health was only just starting to improve. He wasn't welcoming any visitors yet.
- Kahir: Yesterday, we heard that Sinbad was seeking audience with the King, and that's why a special feast was prepared for him...
- You: Kahir, that was a plot right from the start!
- You: The people who poisoned His Majesty weren't just taking advantage of Sinbad. They deliberately set him up!
- Kahir's face drops and a dark cloud looms over him.
- Kahir: There is only one person who would do this, who COULD do this.
- Kahir: He was worried that Father would investigate the exile, and reveal his unspeakable conspiracy.
- Kahir: Sinbad is a close friend to Father and has taken in so many homeless refugees, so he must be viewed as a serious threat.
- You: Actually, as soon as I heard that Sinbad was framed, my first suspicion was the Prime Minister.
- You: I just didn't want to believe that someone would be so ruthless as to try and posion their own kin.
- Kahir: Sometimes power can turn a person into the devil.
- You: How is the King now?
- Kahir: The symptoms of Father's poisoning are very strange.
- Kahir: His hearbeat and pulse are very stable and he doesn't appear to be in pain. He just looks like he's sleeping, but nothing can wake him up.
- Kahir: No Palace Doctor can diagnose the cause, but one did mention that Father looked like he may be under the effect of witchcraft. He suggested that we talk to a Witch Doctor.
- You: A Witch Doctor?
- Kahir: I've heard of a famous Witch Doctor who is well-respected by the people living in the civilian area to the west.
- Kahir: So I left the Palace incognito to avoid my uncle's suspicions, and to personally invite the Witch Doctor to come see father.
- You: Sinbad has a stall in the west, and I work there as a help sometimes, so I'm pretty familiar with the area.
- You: I'll go with you. Maybe I can help you find the Witch Doctor.
