Forgive me, I was busy searching for my great-grandmother's belongings, packing my bags, and saying goodbye to my family. I finally have the time now to properly thank you for giving me the opportunity to travel abroad.
I'm sitting by the window listening to the plane engines in disbelief right now - will I wake up and find myself in class? Could the invitation from the other side of the ocean, the grand ancestral home, and the mysterious past of my great-grandmother by a daydream?
The rumbling plane engines in my dream hurt my ears just as much as they do in reality.

Have you ever seen the ocean from the other side? Not in a documentary or film, but from personal experience.
When I was a child, I enjoyed walking barefoot on the white sand beach during hot summer days. I could smell mangoes and feel the earth beneath my feet when the sea breeze blew.
My father often strolled with me along the beach and told me about the continent's history. I looked at the white smoke rising from the distant ships sailing into the harbor. I couldn't help thinking that the firewood on those ships came from my ancestral home. After the white smoke turns into clouds, will they become raindrops and fall back on my ancestral home? Will there be a scent of sweet mangoes in the rain, and mist on the other side?
Hah. Of course, I know that modern ships don't burn firewood anymore.
I had planned a graduation trip to visit my hometown, but I didn't expect the opportunity to come early. Tulipe, the place where my ancestors lived, is no longer a vague idea. The fragrance of tulips in the morning and cobblestone streets that wind through the old city of wonders are far beyond my childhood fantasy.
But nothing surprised me more than meeting you. No, the be precise, it should be seeing you.
If we ever get the chance, I want to show you the ocean from my home. I wonder if your heart would pound like mine is now. It makes me chuckle to think of you, always calm under pressure, jumping for joy like an innocent child. But I bet you're going to say, "Hmph, you think everyone is as childish as you?"
