Violet Petit is a popular socialite in London. She married in France, and after her husband passed away, she returned to England with a title and a large inheritance. Madam Petit started many newspaper columns, and is dedicated to educating young ladies on etiquette and household living. After more than a decade in the business, her fame has grown, and she is now known as the educator of young women in London.

Cyril Rayes is Caroline's father. He was the heir of the family but cut ties with his father when he fell in love. He even gave up his title and the right to inherit the manor. After leaving his home, Cyril concealed his origins and settled down in Saint George with his wife. He lived in poverty and died of tuberculosis when he was 35.

The story of Madam A can be traced all the way back to King George's rule. Back then, she was a mysterious lady who lived in seclusion. The rest of the nobility ostracized her on the basis of her interest in black magic and mystic arts. A century later, Madam A became regarded as the one responsible for the evil ceremony. No one knows how she became a vampire. When Edward Grey shot her, she took her secrets to the grave.

The Crow's Nest refers to Saint Giles in central London. Back then, Saint Giles had a bad reputation, and the roads were deemed "narrow, twisty, and filthy". Seen from above, Saint Giles resembled a large crow's nest. It is said that there could be as many as 12 to 17 people crammed into a single room in Saint Giles, with just one bed in the room.

It is situated in the vicinity of Westminster Abbey in central London, and in the 18th century, it served as royal hunting grounds. The River Thames is the largest river in England. It has been referred to as "Mother Thames", and nurtured rich British culture. In 1858, Londoners had to put up with the summer of the "Great Stink". England was on the verge of becoming the greatest industrial country in the world. There was a surge in the population, and city development simply could not keep up. This resulted in the accumulation of human and industrial waste along the banks of the river, thus creating the "Great Stink". In 1859, work started on a sewage system, and the problem was finally solved when the sewage system was completed.

In the early days, it was termed the Bastille for poor people, and was infamous for its terrible conditions.
