I've been the daughter of the Minister of Rites since birth. My mother always reminded me to obey every law of decorum and to never let the ministry down. When I was a child, I loved wood carvings. I secretly begged people to buy me wood and carving tools. I used to hide in my room to carve. One day, my father discovered my hobby and threw away my wood and my tools. He beat the person who helped me buy them in front of me, and kicked him out of the mansion. From that day forward, I reined in my desires. Whatever a highborn daughter was supposed to do, I did. Even after Mother passed away, I didn't dare slack off. I became the daughter that every lady praised, and I'm now highly regarded in Beidu.
But I feel as if I'm carrying a huge burden. I'm exhausted, but I can never put that burden down. I want to be Shen Jiaojiao, but I can never be Shen Jiaojiao. So when you bravely planned to attend the Inauguration Ceremony, I suddenly felt like throwing it all away. it's not possible for me to change now, but there is still hope for you. That's why I want to help you. When I see you press on so courageously, my heart feels lighter too.
