Edward Xii : Welcome, esteemed guests. You have all come from afar to attend my daughter's -- Princess Signy's coming-of-age ceremony. The ceremony shall begin with a banquet this evening. Please have a leisurely day until then.

You: Father, you look just like a ceremony official.

Edward XII: I have to host your coming-of-age ceremony after all.

You: But you sounded so stiff and formal...

Edward XII: Oh, that is a great honor indeed. My precious Princess, you will officially be the heir from today. Please enjoy this day. It's dedicated to you, and all your companions.

You: You mustn't leave.

Edward XII: Of course I won't leave. I'm just as young as all of you. *cough cough*

You: Father!

(Father has been coughing a lot more lately, and I'm afraid his illness will worsen.)

Roslin: Your Majesty, it is time to take your medicine and rest. You cannot afford to tire yourself anymore.

Edward XII: *cough* No, today is Signy's coming-of-age ceremony. It's a joyous day. Skipping a does is going to do any harm. Don't you agree, my dear Signy?

You: I know I want Father to be happy, but I don't want Ms. Roslin to worry either-- Why don't your take your medicine first? If you don't you'll have to miss out on the wine later.

Edward XII: Oh, you're so mean to me . All right, Signy. I'll go take my medicine now, but I don't feel like resting yet.

(Ms. Roslin's disapproval is evident on her face.)

Edward XII: Cheer up, Roslin. My Roslin. My Signy becomes an adult today.

(Ms. Roslin's face turns red.)

Roslin: Ah yes...Our Signy. You'll be our future Queen. And you are the only one who can advise the King to take beeter care of his health.

You: Thank you. Ms. Roslin. But I think you're better suited for that role. You're just like a mother to me, after all....

Roslin: You mustn't say such nonsense, Your Highness.

Edward XII: You've been so focused on taking care of Signy all these years. She really should respect you the way a daughter respects her mother.

Roslin: Thank...Thank you, your Majesty. It's only my duty.

Edward XII: Oh yes, Signy, didn't you invite a really important friend? Is he here? I'm rather curious about him.

You: Oh...I've not seen him yet.

Edward XII: Ah, such an important friend, and yet he's late.

You: Father, the real banquet only starts tonight.

Edward XII: Yes, you're right..I'm a little muddleheaded today. I guess I should go take my medicine now.

(Father has reminded me of Aldous, the mysterious Swan Prince. Tonight, he shall become my betrothed.)

You: (When he gets here, I shall ask him to marry me in front of all the guests...But how should I propse? Am I supposed to kneel? How did I end up making such a rash promise? But if only marriage can save him, I must do my best to help my friend. Am I really...just trying to help a friend?)

Honore: Signy! Signy?

You: Huh?

(The call jerks me out of my reverie. I turn my head... The elders have already proceeded to the conterence hall, leaving only the crowd of ''marriage candidates'' here.

Honore: Signy, my Princess, I have not yet formally congratulated you on becoming the crown heir. This is a token made from a bloom I picked on an icy mountain peak. It shall represent the undying bond between us. Please accept it.

You: Oh, thank you. I shall treasure our friendship.

Honore: No, Signy, I'm not referring to friendship--

Raymond: Oh, congratulations! You have earned the friendship of our gracious Princess. Dear Princess, it is my honor to attend your coming-of-age ceremony. Do take a look at what I've brought for you.

(He whips out a small cage from behind, and inside--)

You:Bia Ears!

Raymond: Oh, has the Princess already named it? You seem to fancy it very much, your Highness. This adorable little is now the Princess' little pet.

You: Thank you... (Poor Big Ears. I'll find a chance to send you back home.)

Ambrose: You thief! That's my idea!

(A prince approaches, carrying a small cage. This it's--Brushtail?)

Ambrose: Your Highness, I know you won't accept expensive gifts. So I have captured this little squirrel for you. Oh, and don't fret. I haven't hurt it at all, because I know you have a very kind heart.

You: Thank you...(Poor Brushtail. Well, you can both attend my coming-of-age-ceremony.)

Herman: Haha, just look at all you miserly fellows. You can't even come up with a good gift.

Honor: Hmph, you can't possibly understand the bond between the Princess and me.

Herman: My dear Princess, I have personally crafted this diamond necklace for you. Once I received the ivite, I hired the best jeweler in the land to teach me his craft. This brillant diamond in the shape of a six-pointed star represents my undying love for you.

You: I...

Ambrose: Hey! Why is everyone trying to steal my ideas? This can't possibly compare to the expensive gem necklace I presented. Anyway, who knows if you really crafted that yourself?

Herman: My dear Princess, please don't turn down my gift on such an important day. You deserve to have it.

You: Thank you for crafting this grand gift for me. I will ask Father to place it in the museum for safekeeping.

Ambrose: No, Princess, this is for you and you alone--

Ferdinand: Princess Signy! I'm here! It's your birthday banquet today! May you have good health, and may we beautiful children!

You:....t- Thank you for your well wishes.

Ferdinand:Huh? Why are all of you carrying so many things? Oh! My gift--

(Ferdinand leaves in a hurry to get my coming-of-age gift. More and more people come forward to wish me, and my hands become full with coming-of-age-ceremony. But how can I possibly accept the marriage proposals of all the princes and noblemen here? Even though my duty is to maintain good relations with all the kingdoms... However, from today onwards, I will be able to escape all of this. And my friend will be relased from his curse soon... My coming-of-age ceremony draws to a grand close with the blessings of many. The ensuing banquet is about to end too. I pick Father as my partner for the first dance. Because the one who ought to be here, is missing....)

You: (The banquet is almost over. Why isn't Aldous here? Has he met with some kind of mishap? Or-- Is he having second thoughts?)

Ambrose: Dear Princess, may I have this dance?

You: Sorry, I'm a little tired.

Ambrose: Oh, what a pity. But it has indeed been a long day for you. Please have a good rest afterwards.

You: Thank you.

Chief Minister: Your Highness, this is the fifth time you've refused a dance. You shouldn't keep doing that. This is the night you get to choose your future husband.

You: I'm sorry, Chief Minister. That is precisely why I cannot have second dance with them.

Chief Minister: Oh, does that mean you already have someone in mind?

You: Chief Minister...I can't decide just yet. Please give me a bit more time.

Chief Minister: Well, it certainly is a decision that can't be made lightly. But Princess, you must consider it carefully, no matter what. After all, all your decisions will affect the future of the Kingdom.

You: I understand. Please wait a while longer.

(Time is ticking away, and I keep glancing at the door. But Aldous does not appear. Everyone knows that the Princess will choose her husbank-to-be duing her coming-of-age ceremony. But I still haven't had my second dance, and the hall is starting to fill with murmurs. I feel uneasy. Will he keeps his word? The familiar prince who's also strangely unfamiliar....)

Edward XII: Signy, I don't wish to add more pressure, but-- Will you tell me why you won't dance with the other princes? Or are you still waiting for that important friend?

You: Sorry to trouble everyone, Father.

Edward XII : It's fine, dear. Today should be a joyous day.

(It's nearly midnight, and the dancing will end soon. I can almost hear the bells ringing in my head--

???: Signy!
