Lantern Quotes[]

When Interacting
"Being submissive doesn't mean being a puppet, they may just be biding their time. History has shown countless examples."
"This is a strange era, so strange that empathy and compassion have become rare and precious."
"The gears of time have never stopped. Perhaps you wish for time to move more slowly, but to me, the days are too long."
Upon Receiving a Preferred Gift*
"You look like a cornered rabbit when you're flustered. Don't worry, I like this gift a lot."
"Some things may be simple, but they become more charming as time passes. Your gift has this precious quality."
Upon Receiving a Non-Preferred Gift*
"Perhaps you have some misunderstanding about me? I'm not someone who appreciates such a pretentious gift..."
"I can't imagine this impractical gift is from you. Oddly shaped and lacking in artistic value. It's really... something."
After Using All Interactions Attempts
"Time flies. I have to attend a play, otherwise I'd love to continue with our discussion."

*If you give gifts in batches and the total is 20 affection points or more, even if they are 1-star gifts and the traits do not match, the Companions will still show that they liked the gifts and say a quote of appreciation.

"A rose? Is this supposed to represent the Scarlet Rose? I jest, of course."
"Lately, some new faces have appeared at the poetry salons in London, one of whom is quite a headache. He looks just like your friend, Mr. Lindvall. His name? I think it's... Oscar Wilde? Let's hope this young man will behave with more restraint."
"Here lies one whose name was writ in water. That's right, Caroline, I envy John Keats. But it's hard for me to decide which part of his short life I envy the most."

Letters[]

First Letter

Miss Reckless

Forgive me for being presumptuous, but I hope this letter finds you well.

I'm unsure if you remember me, Vincent Savile, a down-and-out poet. We met briefly at the tea party. My memory of the bizzarely "creative" tea party food remains fresh. Many praised it, and even looked like they enjoyed it. You made little comment but from your expression, I suppose the "creativity" was hard for you to swallow.

Honestly, I thought we'd hit it off when I first saw you. Our conversation at the tea party proved me right. Whether you believe it or not, Miss Rayes, time will tell.

A kind gentleman

Second Letter

Miss Reckless

I've heard much about you lately. I thought you reckless, but I think I'd make the same choice if it were me. I'd have given my all to find the truth. I'm writing not to persuade you to stop, but to remind you as a friend.

The road you've chosen is full of thorns and traps. The vines will trip you, the boulders will block you, and the swamp will swallow you. When you finally make your way to the end, what awaits may not be dawn, but eternal night. My words may anger you, but bear with me. I'm not raining on your parade, but I always consider the worst possible scenario before I make an important decision. I believe you can endure anything, and I wish you all the best.

Remember that the road ahead is tough, but life is precious. I'm willing to be there if you need me.

You're not alone, Caroline.

A kind gentleman

Third Letter

My brightest sun

Dear Caroline, I hope you're enjoying warm sunshine among the bellflowers when you open this letter.

Night has fallen, and it's the only moment when I am fully aware of the cold blood flowing in my veins. My heart can't help but tremble at the piercing cold when the blood passes through my chest. This is when I always think of you.

Some men grovel for fame and power, others share the company of devils for immortality. Time has stopped for me. In these eternal years, the things that men thirst for are within my reach. Yet I only wish to feel the gentle morning rays, the scorching afternoon sun, and the evening glow. Even if my eyes hurt, I still wish to look at the sun.

When I was a child, my mother told me that women are fragile and sensitive. If I met one I liked, I must respect and protect her. I have always remembered her words, but she forgot that a woman can also stand bravely before a man. Warm blood flows through your veins, and your eyes shine as bright as the sun, making one yearn for them.

Perhaps one day, the shadow can embrace the sun.

A shadow that pines for the sun

Night Rose's Chorus Event

To the person I long for

When I opened the door to the apartment you visited, I was nearly overwhelmed by the scent of roses. I may have forgotten to tell you that a vampire's sense of smell is much more acute than in humans. What you consider a delicate fragrance is extremely intense for us, especially in such large quantities. So, Caroline, you can think of the following words as drunken ramblings influenced by the flowers' intoxicating scent.

We were never meant to meet. If I could turn back time, I would never have spoken to you at Madam Petit's tea party. You were born to be human, and you deserve all the happiness and joy in the world. You should walk under the bright sun, far removed from the creatures that roam the night. Are you frowning? My dear girl, I once possessed the same honesty and fearlessness as you. Now, they are nowhere to be found, only surfacing in moments of inebriation. I envy you. I envy your love that shines like daylight, a love you can display openly like a blooming rose. If these roses were sent to a young man before 1816, he would have repaid them with passionate kisses and lifelong devotion. But at this moment, can a lonely soul trapped in the eternal void truly accept them? I ask myself this question, but my heart remains silent.

May I someday find the courage to answer this question.

A Coward

Before the Story

Vincent Savile was born in Ireland as Oliver Savile. In 1816, the vampire Ben Hawke attacked him in a church in Dublin, but ended up turning him after being touched by his kind heart. Ever since his transformation, he strictly chooses to feed on the blood of animals. Over 50 years ago, Vincent and Hawke fled to London to find better living conditions. However, they were coerced by Lavinia, the First Apostle of London, to enter a blood bond with Irad the Elder. The blood bond condemns them to his will and preventing them from leaving his territory until the Elder releases them or dies.

13 years ago, Vincent and Hawke hatched a plan to kill the Elder and win back their freedom by taking advantage of the power split between Irad and Lavinia. However, Hawke went missing after an attempt at rescuing Lavinia from William Akerman's church basement. Vincent has been searching for him ever since. To expand his search, he entered human society once more.
