Overview Gallery

Second son of the Marquis of Zhennan. Royal guard of the upper eighth rank. His body constitution is of extreme Yang, making it difficult for demons to possess him. Devoted to his duty of keeping Chang'an safe, he is indifferent to matters outside of his career except caring for his ailing brother. His calm and steady bearing makes others feel safe. He dislikes things that are out of his control.

Xie Cheng is a Tang Dynasty Hunter Companion.

Appearance[]

Xie Cheng is a fairly tall male with hazel eyes and long black hair tied back in a topknot, held together with metal ornaments. His outfit is very reminiscent of hanfu fashion, consisting of a dark blue robe trimmed with yellow and decorated with intricate cloud embroidery on the lower half, with its collar area seemingly folded back. Underneath he wears a white undershirt trimmed in yellow in a similar fashion, with a white scarf wrapped around his neck to conceal the collar area. On top of his outfit, he wears a short-sleeved coat with a high collar, with a dragon pattern embroidered in a lighter shade of blue on each shoulder area, leather arm guards on each arm, and matching black boots.

His outfit is tied together with a moss green sash and a black belt decorated with metal, with three additional straps hanging from it. He holds a sword on his side as his weapon of choice, with its sheath being black and decorated in silver.

Though you’re staying in the marquis’ residence, I haven’t had time to see you as I’ve been busy with work. Forgive me for writing to you so abruptly. I have heard from my family that you have gotten used to living here, and have been going out frequently. Have you forgotten our promise, Miss Pei?

It’s alright. They’ve also told me that you’re familiarizing yourself with Chang’an, and you speak of it’s sights as though they’re treasures. I suppose you must have seen the impressionable Western traders, the foreign goods from the east and west markets, and the palace at the end of Zhuque street.

Everything I’ve seen on my daily patrols, you have also seen. It’s quite an interesting coincidence, now that I think about it.

I’ll have a day off soon. If you don’t wander off on your own, I can bring you to see some different sights.

Chang'an has also seen sudden downpours, so it's cold and wet outside. Many have started wearing an extra robe. You're always out and about, working hard all day. Don't forget to eat and take care of yourself.

The venerable of Xingjiao Temple is giving a sermon next month. It's quite a grand event in Chang'an. May I have the honor of accompanying you to it?

We haven't seen each other in a while. Are you doing well, Jin'er? My brother has been getting better. Even the physician said he's not in critical condition anymore. You don't have to worry too much as he's lately able to take a stroll outside the residence.

I heard from my brother that there have been strange incidents in the city. The townfolk think they're caused by the supernatural. Since keeping the capital safe is my duty, I naturally have to look into this so I'm writing to consult you.

In the past, I'd definitely have dismissed any talk of the supernatural. But a lot has happened recently and it made me realize there are many things in this world which I don't fully understand. Since we're friends, I know very well that Jin'er will always be just and righteous.

Our rouds ahead may be different and long, but our destinations may be the same.
